Marie Curie is piloting the Companions in the Community Service to support individuals in their final year of life in care and nursing homes. We aim to provide comprehensive support to those with life-limiting conditions, complementing the efforts of our Nursing Team and local community services.
Your Role:
- Visit care homes regularly to interact with residents.
- Facilitate meaningful conversations.
- Provide end of life expertise to patients and their circle of support
- Assist with tasks like Advance Care Plans or ongoing needs.
- Compliment the support already provided by the Nursing Team
Location: Reigate, Tandridge, Caterham or Merstham
Skills Needed:
- Passion for making a positive impact
- Willingness to support during death, dying, and bereavement.
- Residency in Surrey.
- Patience, empathy and emotional awareness
- Excellent active listening skills
- Interest in face-to-face support in care homes.
- Basic IT skills.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent listening skills.
- Commitment, reliability, and inclusive values.

Requirements:
- Provide two non-family references.
